Local businesspeople gathered 9 August for the ribbon
cutting for the Rexburg Wellness Spa on West Main St. This spa offers automated massages, new age
treatments, and classes on meditation and nutrition. There are also a conference room and a small
theater available for renting for group activities and meetings.
Elizabeth, the owner, opened the spa because she had seen
three relatives die from painful illnesses and wanted to provide others who
suffer chronic sicknesses holistic methods to maintain health and manage
symptoms such as pain. She is still
gathering local people knowledgeable in holistic techniques, but she has made a
good start with the methods currently available in her spa.
They have a Dry Water Massage Bed, a Jade Thermal Massage
table, and a Soqi Bed. Those who sampled
the beds confirmed that they are effective, at least in relaxing the mind and
body. There are health benefits
associated with each of the beds. The
Soqi Bed is actually a class 1 medical device with documented healing benefits.
There are also two infrared saunas available for relaxing
muscles, sweating out toxins, weight loss, and pain relief. Both have soothing music playing and color
changing lights to promote healing. The
different colors of light are supposed to stimulate different systems of the
body based on the wavelength of the light.
Many of the techniques available at the Rexburg Wellness Spa incorporate
heat to relax the muscles and promote health.
There are also have Aromatouch Technique massages using
essential oils as well as gemstone therapy where tiny gemstones are placed on
the chakras to promote the proper flow of energy in the body. The colors of the gemstones match the chakra
they are placed on. Energy healing, for
example reiki, is also offered as well as workshops and classes on the different
holistic health techniques, including meditation and nutrition.
The spa aims to provide their services at rates affordable
to most of Rexburg as well as educating people about the different ways to
treat chronic illness in natural holistic ways.
The hours the spa is open revolves around Elizabeth’s
primary responsibility as a mother and the hours her children are in school or
being watched by others. The hours will
increase once school starts again.
Appointments can also be made for other times. For more information contact the Rexburg
Wellness Spa at 356-9772.
