A nine member choir named Cantus will be performing October
12 at 7:30 pm in the Barrus Concert Hall at BYU-I. Fanfare says they are “the premier men’s
vocal ensemble in the United States.”
The group performs music from the Renaissance to today in
over 70 concerts a year, both nationally and internationally. This season they make their first visit to
the Middle East. This month also marks
the release of their 15th recording, On the Shoulders of Giants.
Cantus performs without the use of a conductor which makes
them chamber musicians.
This Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota based choir has won two
Chorus America awards, the Margaret Hill Award for Choral Excellence in 2009
and the Education Outreach Award in 2011.
“Integral to the Cantus mission is its commitment to preserve and deepen
music education in the schools.”
The concert is event dress and no children under 6 are
allowed. Be sure to arrive early if you
have not yet purchased a ticket.
