October 3, 7:30pm at the Barrus Concert Hall a small new
orchestra will be performing.
A Far Cry was founded in 2007 by 17 young professional
musicians. They hail from Boston where
they are the Chamber Orchestra in Residence at the Isabella Stewart Gardner
Museum. The group is self-conducted and
rotates leadership on and off stage.
Performances are full of personality and innovation. “By expanding the boundaries of orchestral
repertoire and experimenting with the ways music is prepared, performed, and
experienced, A Far Cry has been embraced throughout the world with more than
two hundred performances, three albums, a powerful presence on the internet,
and a European debut tour planned for 2012.”
This group represents a new generation of classical
musicians. October’s performance will
showcase A Far Cry’s energetic style and coordination with individuality.
Tickets are available at tickets.byui.edu starting September
10. No children under six are allowed
and event dress, i.e. skirts and slacks, is required.
